In Japanese ceramics there is a wide polarization between the different styles of ceramics, going from roughly finished to highly finished and from natural forms and finishes to strict symmetry and perfection.
I wanted to create something rising from the wabi-sabi aesthetics, something simple, rough, modest and natural.
These vases were my trial of letting go and
trying not to make a perfect and clean shape. I wanted to find beauty in imperfection, to embrace the roughness like it´s seen in Japanese pottery traditions.
