During my stay in Japan I rode my bike to school everyday trough a forest on the beautiful Tama riverside in Takanodai, Tokyo.
The view and atmosphere was simply magical and my imagination started running. What kind of creatures could live in the woods?
The kuri no hito sculptures are creatures, or maybe fairies, that I imagine living in the woods of a Japanese riverside.
The textures and shapes are inspired by two tings that I also saw in the woods, Ishidōrō lanterns and chestnuts, that were scattered around the road next to the Tama river.
The height of the sculptures ranges from about 1 to 10 cm.
